Carer Allowance

The Carer Allowance provides an income supplement payment for people who provide daily care for someone with a disability or severe medical condition. It can be paid on top of the Carer Payment or an Age Pension (more information).

More information is available from the Carer Payment page on the Centrelink website.

Contact Centrelink on the web or call them on 13 27 17 if you’d like to apply for the Carer Allowance. Centrelink can also give you information about Rent Assistance, the Age Pension (more information) and concession cards. They also provide an independent financial planning service that’s free, whether or not you’re receiving a pension or benefit.
