Caring for someone in care
If you come to the stage where you decide to move your family member into an aged care home, you’ll be faced with many issues that may be unsettling. It’s never an easy decision and the transition is difficult for most people. For a start, there will be changes in your routine and lifestyle. For example, you may miss the companionship, but at the same time be relieved to have more time for yourself. You may also feel guilty or worried about what to do next.
If you’re considering an aged care home you may be wondering if you’re making the right decision and it’s quite normal for you to be asking yourself the following questions.
- Will the person I care for be looked after properly?
- What will other people think of me?
- Have I done everything I could?
- Am I a failure because I can’t care for them at home anymore?
- What will I do with my life when I’m not so busy?
