Financial support

There are two types of Centrelink payments that carers may be able to access to help out with finances.

Carer Allowance

Carer Allowance helps carers who are looking after an older person who need a lot of additional attention and have a severe disability or medical condition.

Carer Payment

Centrelink also offers Carer Payment – an income support payment for carers who, because of the demands of their caring role, are unable to support themselves in the workforce.
