Finding information

For many people the most important thing when using a web site is being able to find the information they want quickly. However, different people have different ways of looking for information. Aged Care Australia provides you with a number of ways to find what you are looking for including:


The following sections provide details about each of these features.

Searching

Searching enables you to enter a few key words and find the pages in the site that contain those words. Aged Care Australia provides a number of options for you to search for what you want. More information is available on the Site search tips page.

Browsing

The main body of information on Aged Care Australia is divided into categories, such as Where to Start and Help Staying at Home. No matter where you are on the site you can start browsing any of these topics by selecting a link from the top section of the page (the 'main navigation' section in a text browser). You will then be shown a list of sub-categories on the left-hand side (the 'secondary navigation' section in a text browser), enabling you to follow a logical path to the information you are looking for.

Glossary

Aged care is full of strange and confusing terms. The glossary, accessibile from the right-hand side of every page (the 'finding and searching' section in text browsers) provides an easy-to-use dictionary of these terms. The Glossary will also give you links to find out more about the topics you select.

A-Z Index

The A-Z Index enables you to view an alphabetical listing of the information and topics covered on Aged Care Australia. The A-Z index can be accessed from the top-right of every page (in the 'searching and finding' section in a text browser). Once you have selected the page, simply click the letter that you are interested in and the site will display the topics that start with that letter. You can then select the page that you want to view.

Site Map

The Site Map provides an overview of the structure on the site. The Site Map will show you, in a hierarchical fashion, what content is located in the various sections of the site. You can access the site map by selecting the link at the top-right of the page (in the 'finding and searching' section in a text browser).

Breadcrumb Trails

The Breadcrumb Trail is located towards the top of the page, just above the content. The Breadcrumb Trail shows you the shortest path between the home page and the page you are looking at. You can use the Breadcrumb Trail to backtrack through the site.
