Help with the community care service finder

The Community Care Service Finder lets you find organisations that can help you remain in your own home. The Community Care Service Finder contains information about more than 30,000 services. This page will help you find which of that huge number of services can help you the best.

Using the Community Care Service Finder usually involves the following steps:


Work out what services you want

There are a huge variety of different community care services available. Aged Care Australia provides you with a number of ways to find out which services may be best for you:

Search for services

Once you have determined which type of services you want to search for, visit the Community Care Service Finder page. You can access this page by following the links on the left-hand side of pages in the Help Staying at Home area. Once you are on the page you will need to enter the following:

 
Search by area If you wish to find what services offer help to people in your area, enter the following information:
  • Suburb/Town. Enter the suburb/town (e.g. Brewarrina or Melbourne) where you are looking for services.
  • State. Enter the state where the suburb/town is located..
Or Search by name If you know the name of the organisation you are looking for (perhaps because you have heard about it from a friend), enter the name (or a part of it) here.
And
Select service type Select the service you want from the list. The website may then ask you to make another selection - this helps to show you the services that best meet your needs.
Then select 'Go'

Once you have searched you will see a list of services like the one in the following image:

The following table explains the information that is shown:

Section Description
You searched for Displays a summary of what you searched for. If you don't get what you expect, check that what you searched for here..
# to # of # matches Tells you how many matches there were for your search and lets you know which matches are currently being displayed.
Results Displays information about the services that matched your search. The following information is displayed for each result:
  1. Service name Contains the name of the service. The name is a link to view all the available information about the service.
  2. Contact details Contains the contact phone number for the service.
Navigation If there are more than 20 results for your search the system will only display the first 20 by default. You can use these links to view the other results, in groups of 20.

View the details of services

Once you have decided which services to look at, select the name of the service. The website will display detailed information about the service as shown in the following image:

The following table explains the information that is shown:

Section Description
Contact details Contains the address, phone, fax, email address and web address of the service.
Operating hours Tells you when the organisation is open and/or accepts phone calls.
Description Describes the services offered and the organisation itself. Read this before contacting the organisation to save time.
Services provided Provides a summary of the types of services offered by the organisation. If you are unsure of what a particular type of service is, there is a link to a description of that service available.
