How to get an assessment?
Most people are referred to an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT or ACAS in Victoria) (more information) by their doctor, community nurse or social worker, but this is not essential as you can contact an ACAT directly and arrange an assessment for yourself.
Contacts for ACATs
ACATs are found in cities and towns across Australia. To find the nearest ACAT to you, use the Talk to someone about this feature in the blue box at the side of the page. Enter in your suburb or town and your state or territory and it will show you the nearest ACAT. You can use this feature for all topics in this website.
More information about ACATs
If you want to speak to someone to find out more about ACATs, you can also contact the Aged and Community Care Information Line (more information) on 1800 500 853.
