Help staying at home

Allied health care

Some allied health services are available through community care programs (more information) and others can be found in the Yellow Pages. The services offered through community care programs include:

  • physiotherapy (more information)

  • social work/psychology

  • podiatry (more information)

  • hearing services

  • chiropractic (more information)

  • dietary/nutrition

  • nursing

  • occupational therapy (more information)

  • osteopathy

  • speech therapy (more information)

  • exercise physiology

  • dental

  • optical services, and

  • selected alternative therapies carried out by appropriately qualified practitioners.
  • If you would like more information about the costs of these services, please talk to your individual community care provider. You can also talk to your doctor about which services are included in the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program – a government initiative to help people with chronic conditions and complex care needs. This program helps provide a multidisciplinary approach to health and includes allied health services on the Medicare rebate list.
