Common question

Question: My fee advice letter mentioned Class C hardship supplement - what does that mean?
Answer: Residents who are self funded retirees who entered care prior to 20 March 2008 and who receive an income that is just above the pension income test cut off may be asked to pay up to the non standard basic daily fee. It is considered that these residents may be disadvantaged by the difference between the standard and non standard rates. Residents who belong to the group that is entitled to the Class C hardship supplement will be automatically identified. No application is necessary. Entitlement to this supplement is based on your income as assessed by the quarterly review of income testd fees.
