Common question
| Question: | Can I give medications to the person I care for? |
| Answer: | If the medications are prescribed for the person you care for and they would self administer those medications if they were able, and you are comfortable assisting them to take their medications, then you can do so. If you are not comfortable giving medications you need to discuss this with the person you care for and their doctor to find out what other arrangements can be made. There are a range of government-subsidised home and community care services for older Australians and help with medications is one of the services that can be provided.
