Common question
| Question: | Why should I have an influenza vaccination every year? |
| Answer: | There are several different strains of influenza. Each year the vaccine is tailored to provide protection against the strain/s most prevalent at that time. This means that the vaccine is slightly different every year, so you need the current vaccine to protect against the types of influenza around each year. The flu vaccine is free for older Australians 65 years and over and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people 50 years and over.
