Help with aged care homes

Common question

Question: How do I know I will be safe if there's a fire in my aged care home?
Answer: All Australian Government-subsidised aged care homes must meet state, territory and local government fire safety standards. Homes must have plans and processes in place to evacuate the home in the event of an emergency. In the event of a residential care service being informed of non-compliance with any applicable state or territory laws (including local by-laws) relating to fire safety, the approved provider must inform the Department of Health and Ageing within 28 days of being notified of the non-compliance and take immediate steps to rectify the issue.
