Common question

Question: I'm an Aboriginal person - is there a palliative care program that would suit me?
Answer: Yes. There is a program that offers culturally appropriate palliative care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Information about palliative care in your state/territory should be available through your State Health Department, your local Community Health Service or Aboriginal Medical Service (or community controlled health service), your local hospital or local doctor. In addition there are Palliative Care associations in each state/territory which have very good information about palliative care services and issues for carers. There is also a resource kit for mainstream care providers available to assist in providing culturally appropriate palliative care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
