Common question
| Question: | Will my fees be affected by the assessed level of my care needs |
| Answer: | If you are eligible to pay an income tested fee then your fees may be affected.
If your income tested fee is limited to your cost of care and your care needs increase, then your income tested fee may increase, depending on your income. The income tested fee is capped at the lesser of two amounts; the ‘cost of care’ based on your assessed level of care, or, the amount of income tested fee you can pay based on your income. Where you are asked to pay an income tested fee, the subsidy paid by the Government to the aged care home for your care is reduced by the same amount. Where the subsidy amount is less than the income tested fee that you would be eligible to pay based on your income, the income tested fee is limited to the cost of care. |
