Common question

Question: Mum lives alone and has some help from the local Council. She is supposed to have a case manager, but never hears from her and now the cleaner hasn't been for 6 weeks. What can we do?
Answer: Many Councils provide help through Australian Government-subsidised programs such as the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program or Community Aged Care Packages (CACP) who allocate case managers for people receiving assistance. In this case, you or your mother could ring the local Council. If there is a contact number for the case manager, ring that number first and explain that the cleaner has not been. Otherwise, ring the general enquiries number, explain the situation and ask to be put through to the right person to help you with this.
