Common question

Question: How long does the ACAT appeal process take?
Answer: An appeal against an ACAT approval for care services, must be made within 28 days of you receiving notification of the assessment outcome. Once the appeal has been lodged, the Department of Health and Ageing has 90 days in which to respond. If you have not heard after 90 days then the ACAT decision stands. If you are not happy with this decision, an appeal can also be lodged with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. The Department will let you know how to go about that.
